Media Advisory: Media Accreditation opens for International Anti-Corruption Conference

Global Transparency: Fighting corruption for a sustainable future. Athens, Greece, 30 October – 2 November 2008

Berlin, 05 August 2008

Media accreditation is now open for the 13th edition of the biennial International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC). The 13th IACC will offer innovative approaches to some of the most pressing issues of our time. The conference will explore transparency and sustainability and their link to defining issues such as:

  • corruption and the unsustainable exploitation of natural resources
  • harnessing sustainable natural resources management for development
  • the influence of corruption on security and conflict
  • the need for transparency in the fight against global warming
  • the private sector and business ethics

As the world’s premier conference on corruption and good governance, the IACC brings together a diverse group of world leaders along with innovators from the public and private sectors as well as civil society. They will be joined by experts and activists from many different backgrounds. Confirmed notable speakers include:

  • Donald Kaberuka, Bank Group President, African Development Bank
  • H.R.H. Prince El Hassan Bin Talal, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
  • Huguette Labelle, Chair, Transparency International
  • Irene Khan, Secretary General, Amnesty International
  • Kostas Karamanlis, Prime Minister, Greece
  • Mary Robinson, Chair, Ethical Globalization Initiative / Member, The Elders
  • Mo Ibrahim, Founder of Celtel and the Mo Ibrahim Foundation
  • Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Managing Director, World Bank
  • Siim Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission
